Daily Outfit Idea: Solange Knowles Demonstrates How to Keep Mixed Prints Looking Fresh
By A Mystery Man Writer
Description
Solange always hits it out of the park, style-wise, and this Marni outfit is totally killer! I feel like the whole mixed prints thing has been around for so long that it's getting a little snoozy. The whole "everything but the kitchen sink" look just feels so done and tired to me (unless of course the outfit in question is Dries Van Noten spring, which will forever and ever be my favorite collection), but Solange looks really cool here. The key to doing mixed prints in a modern way, in my opinion at least, is to not actually mix prints, rather to mix the same print in different hues. She's in all polka dots here, but the different colors gives the effect of a jumble of prints, just much, much sleeker. I also love the relatively basic white heels she paired it all with. Polka dots have been a huge trend for a while, so we'd all do well to take our style cues from Solange and stock up. Shop her look here, and tell us, are you still experimenting with prints?
